Dunbar ERF is a new £177m facility based at the existing Dunbar waste treatment hub. Construction commenced in 2014 and is expected to be fully operational by December 2017. Once complete the site will generate 30MW of base-load renewable energy direct to the grid - the equivalent of 39,000 homes. In addition the plant will generate up to 10MW of heat available for local use.
