Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Materials & Logistics Manager to oversee all materials management and site logistics for a large-scale new-build power generation project in the Midlands. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating material flow, ensuring timely deliveries, optimising storage and handling, and supporting the construction team in maintaining efficient site operations.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and control all site-based materials handling, storage, and distribution activities.
Develop and implement the site logistics plan, including delivery scheduling, traffic management, laydown areas, and waste management.
Oversee the receipt, inspection, and verification of all incoming materials and equipment.
Coordinate with procurement, engineering, and construction teams to ensure materials are available in line with project schedules.
Maintain accurate records of inventory, deliveries, and material usage through site systems.
Liaise with suppliers, hauliers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth logistics operations and resolve delivery issues promptly.
Monitor material quality and condition, ensuring appropriate storage and protection measures are in place.
Implement and maintain health, safety, and environmental standards across all logistics operations.
Lead and manage the materials handling team, including warehouse staff, forklift operators, and logistics coordinators.
Support project planning and progress reporting through accurate materials tracking and forecasting.
Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience as a Materials or Logistics Manager on large-scale construction or industrial projects (ideally in power generation, energy, or heavy infrastructure).
Strong understanding of construction materials, heavy plant logistics, and site coordination.
Experience with ERP or materials tracking systems (e.g., SAP, Aconex, or similar).
Excellent organisational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong understanding of HSE requirements in a construction environment.
Full UK driving licence.
Relevant qualification in logistics, construction management, or engineering (preferred).
