The Role:

Integrate Engineering Resources are recruiting for an HSE Manager for a permanent position on behalf of our client, to support a major power station construction project in Somerset. The role will involve providing and overseeing all project related Health, Safety, Environment and Training duties in accordance with legal, company and client requirements to ensure the project is delivered safely and achieves the company goal of ZERO incidents, also including successfully leading a team of HSE Advisors.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain the project CP HSE&T Plan in accordance with legal, client and other requirements required by successful project execution.

  • Establish the risk assessments for the project activities with S.M.A.R.T controls.

  • Create and update the company project induction and ensure its effective communication to all employees, contractors, and visitors as necessary.

  • Deliver the client Project Induction to all required personnel and ensure induction questionnaires are completed and scores are recorded (in the absence of the HSE Advisors).

  • Effectively lead, communicate, and coordinate the work activities of resident client HSE advisors assigned to the project.

  • Ensure the project team receives the highest standard of health, safety and environmental support, guidance to successfully deliver the project.

  • Establish, maintain, and attend SHE meetings, forums and engagements which plan, manage, monitor, coordinate and review health and safety in accordance with the client Management System and CP HSE&T requirements.

  • Produce relevant and appropriate health and safety performance reports ensuring all HSE performance data is provided to the client Project Management team and client Corporate HSE&T Manager in accordance with defined timeframes, including the identification of trends and early warnings of possible issues and recommending appropriate actions and solutions.

  • Engage and maintain relationships with peers, client, and other contractors delivery teams as appropriate.

  • Maintain project employee training and competency profiles in accordance with the Company Training Matrix and Competency framework, NEACI Agreement, SPA and National Standards.

  • Communicate with the Project Management Team to identify training gaps relating to site specific works/ client requirements and complete training requisitions in line with Company procedures.

  • Facilitate and carry out near miss, accident, and SHE non-conformances investigations in line with Company procedures to establish true root and contributory causes and recommend S.M.A.R.T actions to prevent recurrence and improve SHE controls. All investigations should be well documented and communicated in a timely manner to both Project Manager and Corporate HSE&T Manager.

  • Promote a positive and proactive culture towards health, safety and environmental matters at all levels within the project

  • Work as part of a team to successfully achieve the aims and objectives of the project and company.

  • Demonstrate flexibility and approachability

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH National Diploma or NVQ Level 6 or equivalent with GradIOSH status

  • CMIOSH or registered for IPD and working towards CMIOSH

  • Desired 2 or more years in a Lead HSE role

  • Desired Leadership / Manager Qualification

  • Good knowledge of large Petrochemical asset organisational, process plant and site SHE operations.

  • Experience managing a HSE team within a large project environment.

  • Experience in creating and implementing appropriate health, safety and environmental strategies across complex and high-risk engineering operations.
