The Role:

  • Our client has a requirement for Riggers on a shutdown on a chemicals plant near Barry, S Wales. Duties will include:

  • Select and inspect lifting equipment such as slings, shackles, chains, and hoists to ensure suitability for the load and task.

  • Safely attach loads to lifting equipment and direct crane operators using hand signals or radio communication.

  • Read and interpret lift plans, technical drawings, and load charts.

  • Coordinate with crane operators, supervisors, and other trades to plan and execute complex lifts.

  • Erect and dismantle rigging structures such as scaffolds, gantries, and pulley systems.

  • Carry out pre-use and daily inspections of rigging gear and report defects immediately.

  • Ensure all rigging operations comply with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, especially in hazardous refinery conditions.

  • Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and permit-to-work processes.

  • Maintain accurate records of lifts and rigging operations as required.

Requirements:

  • CCNSG card

  • NVQ / City & Guilds qualification

  • Experience of working on industrial sites ie power stations, refineries, steelworks
